sleepy
what? Not sleepy!

Aunt Michelle, Leah and Laura came to stay with us for the weekend. We had a great time! The girls love Trace and he loves them. Grandpa came up and stayed with Aunt Kristen so they came over on Saturday and Sunday. Everyone kept Trace for us Saturday night so John and I could attend a wedding reception for a friend. We had a nice night out. Thanks everyone.
We had a fun time sharing our little man with everyone. They all fought over who was going to hold him and then who was going to hold him next... He has a lot of people that love him very much. He loved it! Tilly got in some good snuggle time too.

My little big boy

Trace misses grandma so he got a shirt about her
Before going to the doctor for his 4 month check up...
and shots....... : (
Happy baby.. about to try some cereal... lets just say its not going so well...
We tried some sweet potatoes Saturday... He doesn't mind the food he just hasn't figured out that he is suppose to swallow it...

Mostly this week we have been working on "eating". He isn't really into the cereal / sweet potatoes. But we will keep trying it. Trace and I went to Cameron's birthday on Saturday. We had fun in the shade and watching all the big boys swim. Happy Birthday Cam.

4 Months old!!!!

Can you believe that my little man is 4 months old? When I think of 4 months as a span of time I think of summers as a kid spending every day at the lake, only breaking for lunch and "Days of our lives". (It was watch it or take a nap, our baby sitters were addicted...) I think of summer jobs and semesters in college. When you first meet someone 4 months seems so short yet somehow so long if you have the right connection. Now I think of 4 months with my child, 4 months as a mother. Some days it seems like I just brought him home and others its hard to remember how it felt to not have him. I know that I have loved him constantly every second of the past 4 months.

Four things about my four month old:
1. He rolls! Yes, it just started this week and you will soon see his ulterior motive...
2. He has successfully slept through every night since he was 10 weeks old...
3. He is not a big napper, see #2
4. He likes to "talk" and tell me all about his day... I think he gets that from Dagny (our cat).

Step one... lie baby on his back
Step 2 roll....
Step 3 roll a little more...
Step 4 keep going....
Oh yes... I forgot the most important step... insert thumb....

Weekend action

I'm cute... I know, but that's enough photos mom
snuggle time in mommy and daddy's bed
Happy 4th!
My boys

Trace, during the fireworks...

Our 4th of July definitely improved after the rained out parade. We went to our friends home for a great cook out. There were several little ones there that are so fun to watch. W saw fireworks all over the place. However, Trace slept through all of them! They were shooting them off just 20 feet from him and he never even woke up but the other kids definitely enjoyed them. John had fun playing 'corn hole' all night. If you haven't heard of it, its worth checking out. Caution, it is a little addictive though.

It rained on my parade.........

We got up this morning, got dressed in our best red, white and blue and went to the parade. Half way there it started raining. We got there and there were about 150 people all dressed up with their kids and pets ready to walk in the parade. Their bikes and wagons were all decorated but it was raining on them. They did it though. They walked down the parade route (it was pretty short).... IN THE RAIN. We didn't want to get Trace out in the rain so we stayed in the car. Some of the kids were so cute and Tilly saw some Yorkie-humans she wanted to meet. :( I will probably be upset about this until next year. I have been pouting ever since. It rained on my baby's first fourth of July parade... We did decide to participate next year so it better not rain!!!

We are going to some friends house tonight for a cookout... Hopefully it will not rain. It stopped when we got home from the "parade".

little update

We grilled out Sunday night. Trace just loves to be outside so we brought out the play gym and put a blanket under it.
Me and Trace sticking our feet in the pool. It's nice to go down there around 7:00 when the sun is setting even if we don't get in.

: )

Saturday night we went to Ed's daughter's (Jennifer's) wedding.
It was a beautiful outdoor wedding. Trace found his thumb and slept through it. But he was awake in time to watch all the people at the reception. We had a good time and it was a great time to get a couple family pictures. Which all of you know are sadly rare.
I hope you all have a HAPPY 4th OF JULY! Stay tuned for Trace's "first-forth" pictures!
